Paul Godin


† February 7, 2014


Paul Godin passed away Feb. 7, 2014. He became a member of the Baden Raiders team in 1969 and helped the team to win the Canadian Armed Forces trophy and Europ's Cup International
in 1971.
Paul will be remembered as a hard defence man on that team.

 

Donald MacDonald


† October 30, 1934 - January 2, 2016

Donald MacDonald passed away peacefully January 2, 2016 in Calgary, Alberta

Donald joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1952 and spent the next 36 years in the Safety Systems trade where he achieved the rank of Master Warrant Officer before his retirement.
While in the Canadian Armed Forces, he met many friends and had many achievements while working and stationed at various Canadian Forces Bases which included: Chatham, New Brunswick; North Bay, Ontario; Baden-Baden, Soellingen, Germany; Trenton, Ontario; Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania; Cold Lake, Alberta; and Edmonton, Alberta.

Donald MacDonald was a proud member of the RCAF and was stationed in Baden-Soellingen from 1957 to 1961.
May he rest in peace

 

LCol (retired) Ivan Sanford

LCol (retired) Ivan Sanford was born and raised near Berwick, Nova Scotia. At the age of 17, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served as a Fighter Pilot for 27 years. 
Ivan (Sandie) was the CO of 421 Squadron at CFB Baden-Soellingen  from 1982-85.
Sadly, on June 5, 2015 he took his last flight and did so with honour and dignity. He will be missed by all who knew him.

James Albert Holt


July 21, 1935 - March 10, 2015

James Albert Holt L/Col RCAF/ Dept of Foreign Affairs/ Retired passed on March 10, 2015 in Ottawa, Ontario,  following a hard fought, courageous and determined battle with Cancer.

Jim Holt was a member of the RCAF's Golden Hawks aerobatics team and eventually became  Squadron Leader of the 439 “Tiger” Squadron, flying CF-104 Starfighters at CFB Baden-Soellingen.

Harold E. (Bob) Sleigh MWO (retired)

Harold (Bob) Sleigh, died March 17, 2013 in Comox, BC
Bob served 29 years with the RCAF retiring as a Master Warrent Officer
He and his family were posted to 4 Wing Baden-Soellingen in 1957.
Bob was a fantastic hockey player with the 4 Wing Raiders.
Bob is missed very much by his family and friends.

Jean-Paul "John" LeBlanc

JJP LeBlanc passed on February 8, 2015 at the Glen Dor Dun Lodge in Cornwall Ontario.
Jean-Paul worked for Canada Customs in Cornwall prior to being transferred to Germany . He was stationed at CFB Baden-Soellingen during the late 1980tees until Closing, working as Canada Custom  Chief.
JP was a respected and well liked member of the Baden community.

Chief War­rant Offi­cer Ernest Joseph “Ernie” Hall, MMM, MSM, CD (Ret’d)


† Monday, January 12th, 2015



Ernest Joseph “Ernie” Hall passed away Monday, January 12th, 2015 in an Ottawa hospital surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Hall was leaving the arena after attending the Lumber Kings/Cornwall Colts game when he was hit by a Toyota RAV-4 driving westbound on Lake Street. Two other victims were released from hospital Monday

Ernie Hall served at CFB Baden Soellin­gen Germany in 1988 with 3RCR. During his time there, Hall served in the 1990 Persian Gulf War and subsequently deployed to Croatia in the former Yugoslavia.

Graydon Scott

Graydon Scott was stationed at 4 (F) Wing Baden-Soellingen as RCAF Police from 1963 - 1966

Graydon was a well respected member of the Base community and a fine hockey player with the 4 Wing Raiders.

Robert George Charlton


† April 22, 2014 Calgary, Alberta

WO (retired) Robert Charlton served in the Canadian Military for 25 years; spending 1972-1977 at the CE section at CFB Baden-Soellingen.
Bob was also a very active member of the Baden-Soellingen Base Community having been the voice of Santa over the CFNS radio station as well as being remembered for the BBQ he used to cook up at the mess.
Bob leaves behind 4 children 6 grand children and 5 great grand children ....he will be missed

Howard was stationed at Baden-Soellingen in the early 1970 tee’s and was in charge of the Military Police
He quickly picked up the nickname of TC (top cop) and many will remember Howard as the
Rube Band Band Officer from 1973 to 1975


Howard Mansfield was a superb Band Officer and liked very much by band members and all he met.
