Air Reserve Augmentation Flight

On the 30th of June 1988 the Minister of National Defence authorized the organization of eleven Air Reserve Augmentation Flights (ARAFs) across the Canadian Forces. The ARAF in Baden was established in August of that year as an element of the Reserve Forces and allocated to 4 Fighter Wing, 1 Canadian Air Division. The ARAF in Baden was one of two Primary Reserve units and the first to operate within Canadian Forces Europe. Lieu-tenant-Colonel Don Squires commanded the unit from its inception until its closure.
