Congratulations on the excellent web site. What a trip down memory lane! I was a student at Baden Senior from 78/79 while my parents were posted to Heidelberg and then posted to Baden in 1984 as a member of 128 AAD Bty. It was an experience of a lifetime and one that I will never forget. Those in the military who never had the chance to serve in Europe, and Baden in particular, will never know what they missed. Thanks for the site and keep up the good work.

It was a rare but cool day in Calgary and started browsing. Low and behold, God's Country...Baden!! What a blast looking back at some of the photos and a flood of memories came in. I was a Civie (bluecard) from 77-86. I worked in good ol Canex in the warehouse for two years and then moved over ot the fire dept. I worked there as a civie, as the fire chief would say, DFC (damm fine civie) or other words to that effect. While working at the fire hall I also worked with Community Services as a Bus driver. I am sure there are alot of people who remember some of the bus trips to all over Europe? Those were the days and are really missed. One particular function that I always enjoyed was the famous CAG Crawl. But I really can't forget the endless Fisherfests, Sportsfest, Maifest, Winefests and any ol reason to have a fest. Those sunny days at the quarry (you pick which one) to going for a Volkslauf on the weekends. Boy were we in paradise!!! Any how, I am in contact with a lot of peple who were there duing my time there so please feel free to give a call and I will pass on any information that I have. Nice hearing from a lot of old friends again. Also, what an Excellent site!!!! Will be back over for Spargelfest 2000. Tchuss und veil spass

Hi everyone...add us to the "miss Baden a lot" club. From being announcers at CFNS, going to the Caracalla and the Engel in Schwarzach and all the touring we did between 1988-1993, Baden was one heck of a honeymoon. The family has grown with the addition of Lyndsay (Sept 94) and Laurence(Laurie) (Sept 98). We'd love to hear from any of the old gang.

Wonderful site. Served in 4 (F) Wing Nov 63 till July 66 as an AC 1, AFP. When I arrived in No 63 there were 42 AFP's and six months later there were 250 of us. 4 wing was my first posting and I have many fond memories. Retired from the military in 1993 and am presently writing the history of the RCAF Air force Police so if you have any information or know of any AFP's please contact me.

HI all you wonderful people from Baden. I was there three different times, first was from 71-75, then from 81-83 went back to Canada for 8 months and was there again from 83-85. I used to help with the golden Oldies show on CFNS, and play the toys with the Rube Band.(Rubies) My father and two of my sisters were also part of the band, they are Sandra Steeves, Susan (nee Stacey)Hazell, and of course my Dad, Ken Stacey. I have pics of the early 70's with the band and in the 80's as well. EMail me if you would like to get ahold of them. You have brought me on a trip down memory lane, and the tears are overwhelming. I have lived in Base PMQ's, the Weitenung PMQ's and in Hugelsheim, went to school there, became a teenager over there, and lots more...LOL.. I would love to talk to anyone that might remember RObby Roberts(the band Master from 81-83+) Cam Audette, or Ludwig. I miss the Food the most and the spices.. Thank you so much... Hi! What a site! I`m impressed. Je suis tres impressionne. After viewing the album, it did bring back memories. Je dois dire que ca rappelle plein de souvenirs. My family and I were posted to CE Section from 1985 to 1989. This was our third tour and I must say (whitout taking anything away from the other two tours) it was the best. Congratulation, it is a very good idea! It touches me!

Just a note to change my E-Mail address. I was great to hear from some old friends like Bob Bell and Clay McAdam. It sure brings back old memories. It's also great to know that some of the old timers are still around, alive and kicking. It's hard to believe that its been 31 years since I left 4 Wing. A lot of things have changed but many stay just the same. Looking forward to hearing from more of the early 60's batch.

Well well well, what a nice surprise this is! Finally a way to get in contact with so many old memories! I’m Steve Simoneau yes you might remember me as the froggy, the brother of Ghyslain Simoneau (oui, c’est bon!!). My family was posted in Germany from 1985-1989 and for ever my life had change. I learned to speak english in this little community and grew funder of the language. I remember the trips, still look at the yearbooks from time to time. But I also remember many other things such as the beer fests every Fridays, or the famous expression “egg in the hole” where I found out that eggs and vodka do not mix well!! And of course I remember everyone who was there with me Scott Apted who was my “idole” as the drummer, Brian Fowler with who I spent a lot of time with (I’d like to get in touch with him) and the others as well Krista, Pam, Carla Swenson, Alicia, Nancy Rideout (anyone interested, I have her e-mail), Donald “gros bat” Dubois, Andre Levasseur, Paul Doyle (the guy who taught me how to ski). Anyway I’ll stop here. But I would like to get in touch with anyone interested, if you know how to reach: Andre Levasseur, Paul, Donald, and Brian Please let me know. I’m now in the process of writing my Master’s thesis in Neuroscience, and hope to get a job either as a Teacher (chemistry and Biology) or to work in the biotechnology field. Oh and for you musician out there, I’ve stopped playing the drums and found out I had more talent playing the guitar instead! Until I hear from you, Have a great year and never forget Baden!!! Steve

Hi. I was doing some surfing and ran across your page. I really like it, much better than the one I am trying to produce for our old squadron from Marville. I was in Europe at Marville from 56-59 and again from 66 to 72. My second tour included Marville, then Lahr with a short 4 month posting to Baden in 1970 before returning to Lahr. I was BATCO in Baden for that short period, but my family stayed down in Lahr and I comuted daily. Had a great time in Europe and look forward to hearing from old friends. If anyone is interested, the web page I am trying to build is Keep up the good work. Earl.

HI! I've changed my E-mail address since my first entry and I'd like to correct a couple of typo errors and add a few comments. I sailed on the RMS Samaria in Oct. 1964 and spent two wonderful years at #4Fighter Wing(422 Sqn.)as a Munitions@Weapons Tech. I returned to Canada aboard the RMS Scythia in Oct.1956. I was lucky to again serve at 4Wing from Oct.1964-Oct.1967. Needless to say my years in Germany (and Rabat,Sardinia Bertrix, etc.) were among the best of my life. I made some of the best friends of my life during those tours and fervently hope to hear from them. Great site. Thanks,Sonya, for the opportunity and, again, for the memories.

We found this site by accident. It is very well done. We are impressed. We were unofficial members of the Baden facility. Our American employer relocated us to Baden-Baden in 1989. We lived in Iffezheim. Our daughter (Trish) attended BSS one year and our son (John) attended three years (89-(92). We relocated to London in 1992. In addition to using the school, we were frequent visitors to the video club, youth center and golf course. The gate guards will remember us as the Americans who frequently signed on the base. We have relocated back to Baden and currently live in Steinbach. We drive through the area every several weeks to see what has changed. It is looking much better after several years of decay. We too have fond memories of the Canadians at Baden-Soellingen. David & Jill Bauer 113332.3377@compuserve.com

Interesting site. Notice that most contributions are from those stationed at Baden in "later years". We were there from '55-'57, Ruth was a Teletype Op and I was Photo. Agree it was probably the best posting ever. Are there any others from that era visiting this site?

I think I have entered this guestbook before but would like to add to my original entry. There are a group of us who are planning to orchestrate a Reunion 2000 which will include those from the mid to later eighties and on. The scheduled reunion is planned for those attending BSS during the seventies. Response on this topic is greatly appreciated. We look forward to hearing from you. In addition, on behalf of a friend, as well as for myself, does anyone know the whereabouts of Bobby Snow? Well, our twins are turning one and I have a ton of decorating left to do so ... let us know what you think of the reunion idea. Have a fantastic holiday season!

I myself have just returned from living in Switzerland with my husband, and I had a chance to revisit the base and Hugi. Kind of made me sad to see how poorly the bldgs have been taken care of. But hey, we have this website to share our memories. If anyone who knows us Bob, Louisette, Nancy, Bruce, Christina , and/ or myself, Audrey. Contact us love to hear from you!

Was there between '89 and '93. I worked at the combined mess for a couple of years then supply the last year. Mike worked at AES. Just happened on this site by accident. Liked reading the guestbook and seeing what the base looks like now.

We were in Baden from 84 - 88 and had the time off our lives. D-12 told us to look up the site and we are glad that we did. The people we methere are sadly missed to this day. The parties were wonderful and even the work was good. It is always a pleasure to talk about those days and we would love to hear from any who would like to write us and talk about then and now. Heh. does anybody remember the "HAT Parties". Andy And Marlene

Hard to believe that it's really been 16 yrs since we moved back to Canada. For those of you who remember Lisa and I, I'm very sorry to say that my sister passed away in Feb.92....This site definately brings back so many memories that I wish I could still share with her. Baden obviously holds many wonderful times for all of us, thank you so much for this ticket in your time capsule.

Although I never had the opportunity to serve overseas, I do appreciate what you have done here. In addition to learning a few things, your site's Bulletin Board has allowed me to (hopefully) touch base with former members of 439 Tiger Squadron concerning our colours presentation to beld sometime in June 1999 (refer to the BB). Again, thanks and keep up the good work !

My compliments on this website. I was stationed in EDAL from '80-'85 as an air traffic controller. To live there was an marvelous experience but made the next posting (to Moose Jaw) a cruel return to reality. I did, however, return to the scene of the crime briefly in '88 and again last year. I was struck by the condition of the place; at any time I expected to see old friends come out of th buildings that are almost exactly that way I remember. But they weren't there and it is true that you can't go home again...
