Found this site on Google. Like eveyone else - what a flood of memories. Was with 3 Mech CDO, 73-75 from 2PPCLI on call sign 31B. I remeber some of my buddies then, Gerry Knight, John Loxterkamp, Mel Smith, Al Jardine, Dickie Hurst bombing around in his taxi, Sgts. Wright & Leblanc, WO Frank Melton, Tiffany's in Hugy, and trips to Amsterdam. Special times those were.

What a super site. We were posted in Baden from 1987-1991. Ben worked for 128 Bty and I worked for ATC as their part time secretary. Good to see some familiar names. Hi to Simon Patry (great boss), Jim Dunn (great parties) and Phil Knox (who always played my Westend Girls by the Pet Shop Boys when he was on the radio on Saturday mornings. Feel I have come home for a visit when I came upon this site.

What can one say about finding one of the most interesting sites in a long time. I was stationed in 4 wing twice, 1955-1958 Then again in 1967-1970. The first tour I was stationed with 444 Sqdn F-86 Sabres one of the best A/C in the RCAF. I was weapons and did the normal tours on detachment to Rabat North Africa and the to Sardinia. I remember a lot of friends from that period the only trouble is I can't remember names. On my second tour I was at wing armament, QRA, and small arms and Base defence training. My after hours volunteer was running the Base swimming program. Plus involved in target shooting. If I sound familiar drop me a line. I would love to hear from some of the old crowd. Joan if you ever read this write me.

A good site, but the info is to new for me. I was there 1962/1966 and unfortunately there is little from that primative era. Also, you should get something about 601 Telecom Sqdn.

Just had the opportunity of reading the article about the 4-Wing Raiders. They must have been a superb team at that time, however I saw the really great teams of the middle and late 60's, that were purely awesome. From Frankie Francouer (the Bobby Orr of Germany), Roger Morin, Bill Boran, Pete Chelew, Yves Garand, Jack Gilbert, Dave Carlyle, Wayne Farr, those were the players that will forever stick in my mind. From 1964 to 1968, I followed the Raiders with a passion, from their battles with the Flyers of 3-Wing, with Wayne Mitchell, and the Arrows from 1-Wing, with Andy Anderson and Red Houghton. It was hockey at its best. I also remember the Canadian National Team, I believe in 1966, with Morris Mott, Fran Huck, Wayne Stevenson and Marshall Johnson invading the arena to play host to the French National Team. The Raiders were the best, and how I remember all those names (although some are mis-spelled) is beyond me. I was between 11 and 15 throughout those glory years, but their memories will always with me. Thanks for the spendid hocke, and thanks for the memories.

HI everyone! What a great site! I was here a few years ago, and I visit it often. I'm living in Timmins, Ontario, better known as ShaniaVille. I was in Baden from '69-'76 and '77-'82 until grade 8. Those were the best years of my life. BYC, Figure Skating, School trips, Sand dunes, I could go on and on... As a kid living in Europe, I didn't realize the novelty of living there until I came back to Canada in '82. WOW, I sure do appreciate all the "flashbacks" I get now. I try to share with my husband, but he has no idea of what I'm talking about. I found a few Baden friends this past year, and had the great opportunity to visit with them this past summer. Craig Aitchison, Tim Parrell, and Cindy Jones... it was great seeing you again after soooooo long! Feel free to email me, I'd love to hear from anyone that was there the time I was!

Reserve attachment to 3 Mech Commando July to November 1971. Thanks for the pic of Tiffaneys. Lots of memories of Alfred and Ingrid helping us to speak German. We were not allowed to use English and they could not use German. This arangement produced many embarrassing and hilarious conversations.

Was in Baden 79-82. My Dad taught Gr. 7 at B.I.S. Was sent the site URL a year or so ago, had a quick look but didn't get back to a read through the guestbook until now. Have seen a few names I recognise, and will get in touch. I have great memories of the 3 years we spent in Baden. Now that I'm living in the UK, I'm planning a visit back to the old haunts, to see what they look like now. Great site! If anyone is looking to get in touch with my parents (Elroy & Margo MacKinnon) or my sister Kenzia, drop me a line.

Arrived in 4 wing in 1957 with my mother, brother and sister. My father, Flight Lieutenant Peter Olenick, arrived earlier with 419 squadron. Spent two years in Baden then were transferred to Metz France. My mothers name is Eileen, my brother is Patrick and my sister is Theresa. Have many fond memories from back then. Was a great place to grow up as a kid, what with exploring for war artifacs etc. Anyone at 4 wing during 1957 to 1959 may contact me to share experiences and possible further contacts.

I graduated from BSS in 1991 and am looking for old classmates regarding a possible reunion. I was just in Germany in December and visited the base. Have not been here for awhile. Thought it may be a good time to post again. Where are all the RCAF OLD TIMERS of 1957-59 and 1964-1969. I was a FireFighter. I played Hockey for HQ in 57-59 and for the Westerners in 64-69. I also played fastball, soccer and golf. Was also on the Stn Track & Field team way back the. "So, come on you old-timers, get with it, lets have some posts from you.

It was nice to see that somewhere, someone else still remember 3 Mech Cdo. In Petawawa home of the Airborn they disavow any existance of 3 Mech. I guess one has to go home if he wants to speak to old friends and family. Read one guest comments "Nick Nick Roger Out" and a flud of memories came rushing back. I served in CFB Baden 70-72 3Mech Cdo and 78-80 3Mech Cdo/3RCR. As Mr Hope would say Thanks for the Memories. As Bob Hope would say Thanks for the Memories.

As a young MP Cpl I had the pleasure as a six-month "fly-over" to close out CFB Baden. Drank a lot of beer. Ran over a lot of rabbits (by accident of course) in my VW patrol car... Hey Sonja, how's it going? I'll never forget going to your place and watching you get sick! Remember? Ha, ha. < Take care everybody!

I had the pleasure to walk the final volksmarch at CFB Baden Soellingen. The mug is a cherished part of my collection. A fond hello to anyone attending that march or, for that matter, anyone stationed in Germany at that time. Hoo Ahh!!!!

Not a Baden brat lived in Zwei and Lahr in the sixties. Looking for Carol Jaheny who moved to Baden in the summer of 69. Sounds like a good line for a song. Anyway I went out with her the last year I was in Lahr. It was heartbreaking to see her go. If your'e out there Carol or anyone who might be in touch please contact me.

Thoughts of the good days at RCAF Baden are always at the fore;and memories of the sounds from the test cell to 6 Schule Strass ,Solengien still echo in the distant past. Central Servicing and Explosives Storage Area 1966-1970 Also enjoyed a very good month in 56 or 57 when the Lions of 427 visited the Checkerboards and made some remarkable memories with our Sabre 6's.

What a thrill! I was swept back to the most wounderful time of my millitary life. Thank-you for the memories. I only wish I could see all the wounderful people I served and worked with. Oh yes. And all the hockey Ref's I called games with. P.S. Ogilvie and Hamilton were never REALLY BLIND! Thats just how they called the games.

Just had this site sent to me by my daughter, this is great. We were posted in Baden between 1972-75. We lived on the economy in Iffezheim for the first year then moved into the PMQ's. I was attached to 3 Mech Commando as a veh tech from Jun 1972 to Jan 1974 then I remustered to the Military Police and was attached to the Base MP section from Jan 1974 until we returned to Canada in Jun 1975 and were posted to Gander. I also worked at the base Theatre as a projectionist. Our daughter's name is Tammy and our Son Dean was born at the Lahr hospital on 1 Jan 1974, second canadian born at the hospital that year. We really enjoyed our tour there and hope to re-visit some day. If anyone can remember us, please drop us an e-mail, would love to hear from you.

We were stationed from 85-90. Lived at PMQ 7. I was in grades 1-5 during that time at Baden Elementary School, and Jeff was at BSS. I was kind of a class clown... Also figure skated at the base rink, went to Girl Guides with 4th Rhine Valley Pack (guiders Sheryl & Karen!) Miss old friends, including and especially Jennifer MacDonald, Heather Fraser, Melissa LeClerc, Kimmy Gilbert, Jill Mitchell, Crystal Coleman, etc... We had great teachers like Miss Bearstow, Mrs. Fullman, Mr. Bromhead, and Mr. Martin. Such great field trips! Ski week at Moleson, Switz., visits to Mount Palatus, the Fairy Tale Road trip all over Germany. Also, who remembers Baden Summer Day Camp? Bike rides down the fire lanes by the Black Forest? The Monkey Tree by the ExpressMart? The Sand Dunes? Many fond memories. Would love to hear from old friends and classmates!

Hello to everybody who was at 4 Wing! I have many fond memories of our days at 4 wing. My dad Col.F.J. Kaufman was the base commander there in the 60's/70's. For those of you who attended school at 4 wing, I thought I would let you know that the Vice Principle Mr. David Kerwin is still around causing mischief as he is on the town council here in Newmarket. It certainly is a small world. Whats with the Kaufmans for those of you who are interested. Well my father passed away Christmas 1996. The rest of the Kaufman clan my mother, Pam and Jay live here in Toronto. I have forwarded this site onto my brother and sister ... which is a great site. Again as a PMQ brat! ... I wish all who hit/read this site and guest book all the best in the future years ahead!!!
