This site sure brings back memories!! Terrific!
BASE BRAT 74-78. Dad was with 3MECH. I attended Baden
Elementary (grades 1-4) and lived in Weitenung. I, too, remember trading
comic books on base, witch burnings, beer tents, parades, ski trip to
Biberweir (’76), numerous class field trips to caves, castles, and the
Black Forest, figure skating and swimming lessons. Teachers included Mr.
Bolton (gr 2), Mr. Murray (gr 3), and Mrs. Young (gr 4). Would love to
hear from Connie Fleetwood, Sheila Petalia, Diane (can’t remember last
name but had a little brother ‘Robbie’) and Carla Jo Desjardin (all lived
in Weitenung).

After being in Baden
from 81 to 87, life everywhere else seems a bore......ha, just wish I
could remember more of it. Simply the best! If anyone is ever in Whitehorse,
be sure to look me up. I gave up sharpening skates and fixing APC'S for
operating a flight school and charter service in Whitehorse. Can't drink
as much as I used to and really miss my BMW 735i..........my 10 year old
Ford pick up just can't compete.

Well my father (Don Smith with 1 cag at the
time - Avionics) was posted there for the second time in 76 to 82. I myself
followed along as his little co-pilot. I was only 5 when I got there,
but I remember the place well and would like to get in touch with some
of the kids I went to school with. Very interesting stories told on this
site as well as some emotion of what was to remember by being there. I
am glad to be part of this group that got a chance to spend some time
in Baden, even though
I was a very young at the time.

along with Gray Linney. We all served together from 84-90 and lived in
the great village of Weitenung. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tim if you are a visiter to this site, you are greatly missed and please

Hi! We were at Baden
from 1962 - 1964. I was a civilian and from the US (Is that 2 strikes
against me?). I worked for Honeywell and helped in the maintenance of
the autopilot etc. on the CF 104. Played some football and was on the
base team that competed for the 'European Grey Cup' We lost one year and
won the next. So very long ago! I am now retired and live in Desert Hot
Springs Ca. If anyone out there is of the same era I would appreciate
a note. We enjoyed the time we spent there very much. Have always wanted
to go back for a visit but somehow never managed to do it.

'54 to 56! I guess I am an old timer. I haven't
seen any entries that date back to my time. The base was new then, and
there were no PMQs. I arrived July '54. and my new bride (Carol) came
is Sept. We lived in Rastatt while PMQs were being built. We "camped"
in our new PMQ in time for Christmas. We left in June '76 on release,
but I was back in for another 5 within a year. I was a Radio Operator
so my time was spent in the Telecom section. We look back with fond memories
of our two year honeymoon in Germany, and would love to hear from people
who were there at that time.

Hi there, I went to BSS in 77-81. I used
to spend quite a bit of time at the figure skating rink. My brother Andrew
(now living in Montreal) went to BSS until 1983. My parent Liz and Fred
Tappen are living in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. My Dad is retired and running
his own property managemnt business. My Mom is working on the base as
the NPF manager. We have many great memories from our time in Germany.
It was a fun place that is for sure. I am married to Lyndon and have a
four year old son. We have been living in Hong Kong for the past 9 years.
Everyone is happy and healthy. Can't ask for much more than that!! I have
enjoyed looking at the site and seeing some familiar names. Keep up the
good work. I will be BAAACCKK .... to snoop some more.

Hi everyone! This is my second post to this
awesome message board since I found this site in Sept of 99! Just would
like to thank all who have worked on it, as it's renewed terrific memories
of the time we all spent overseas! Since Sept. I have "found" many old
friends and some of them have "found" me! In fact... I'll be visiting
some of them whom I haven't seen in over 15 yrs during my holidays! Now
that's awesome! I was in Soest in 1969 then relocated to Baden
shortly after that. After moving back to Canada for a year, my Dad was
once again posted to Baden
(1977-1982. Lucky us! Those were the best years of my life! BIS, BSS,
BYC, Winter Carnival Parades, School trips, I could go on and on... We
all had quite the opportunity to grow up learning about how the other
half of the world lives, eats (especially eating). If anyone out there
remembers me, please dont' hesitate to drop me a line. I can forward any
message to my parents or my sister and brother, Lauri and Rob!

The previous msg entry from Frank Halliwell
of Australia has to be the best of any RCAF poetry I have read ... every
sentence has its meaning. My husband and I were at 4Wing Baden
58-62. Not too many entries from that era. Jack was an M&W Tech(later
remustered to Radar) and I worked for over 3 years in NPF Accts. Where
have all the oldies gone? Many of you have computers - so why not take
the time and let ex-RCAF know where and how you are?

I thought some of the 60's gang might get
a bit of reflection from this. Not exactly Baden,
but we at Marville were related! 8-) SABRE JET Frank Halliwell Jimboomba,
Qld. Australia. Public Domain I pulled up outside an airport, and she
sat there, on display, On a little pad of concrete, like a grounded bird
of prey. I was carried in an instant by that bit of happenstance, To an
airfield near a village, in the fields of northern France.. Once again
I hear the bellow of the turbine's mighty song As the waves of rolling
thunder drive the sleek war-birds along... Down the runway; ever faster,
till they bid the earth good-bye, And the gear locks into place as they
leap headlong for the sky. Rising like four homesick angels to their home
among the clouds, All around;...reverberations of their passing;... long
and loud. Four small specks far in the distance, vanishing into the blue,
Now there's nothing left but echoes and the scent of Turbo 2. Beeping
horns of angry drivers drag my mind back to to-day, ...From forty years
back in the past, and half a world away. The traffic lights have turned
to green during my reverie, For both of us are obsolete ; The Sabre Jet
and me! . . . . . 439 Squadron RCAF Marville, France 1962. o0o

the two churches back in '83 or '84? The churches have been torn down
now apparently

Just heard about BadenRemembered from Linda
McCauly yesterday and this whole website is bringing back many wonderful
memories. Thanks to all those involved in its creation. Over the years
I have lost contact with any friends from Baden
and have always regretted not staying in touch with more of my pals. I
was a "BRAT" in Baden
during the late 60's through to the mid 70's (who can remember the correct
years at our age now!!). I was formerly married to "Dutch" (Gyspertus
Vanluttikhuizen)who was with 3MECH. My father is John Bray and was with
1RCR. My parents have since retired 12 years ago to Calpe Spain and are
loving it. Unfortunately I don't think I can manage to get to the reunion
on August 7th/2000 in Winnipeg but if anyone out there would like to get
in touch please feel free to do so. I'd love to hear from you.

Hi, I had a chance to browse some pages of
feedback....there sure were a lot of people there...I didn't see to many
that were stationed from 1980-85. Many of you probably know my father
as he was Sqn Warrant Officer for 441. Left in 85 as a MWO. He is now
retired living in Ottawa. If you would like to chat with him let me know
and I'll drop him a line with your address. Any of you others that went
to cadets with me during that time, I 'd like to hear from ya!! Cya later!

I had a great grandmother named Caecilia
Huber who was born in Baden,
Germany in 1865. She had a half sister also. Caecilia's mothers name was
Ottilia Armbruster and her fathers name was Franz Anton Huber. If you
are in Germany or the U.S. and know that you were related to these people,
I would like to hear from you. E-mail me and maybe we can chat on line
occasionally. My great grandfather was Michael Ficht who also lived in
Germany. His brother's was Barnabus and Fred Ficht. If you are related
to us, please e-mail me. So long.
