looking for early RCAF Flyers Europe history
From our Facebook group: by Armin Karcher
I am looking for information about the foundation of the RCAF Flyers Europe in order to deliver it to posterity. We all here in Zweibrücken, know only to little of the early days of the RCAF Flyers, mainly that F/O Peter Cunningham was one of the persons who brought hockey to Zweibrücken. I have so many questions, such as, who were the other founding members?, What role played Commanding Officer Chester Hull, W/C John Gellner etc. Came to order from 1 Air Division Headquarters Metz to built up a Team. Who paid for the Arena? Was Dr. Krantz the sponsor of the team? and so on. I interviewed older people, hockey players, and former employees of 3 Wing, either of them tells various stories about the founding of the Flyers. Thanks to Bud Robert Bud White White I could obtain many wonderful RCAF Flyers images and info but I thought I should collect detailed information to put an end to the rumors. I must not forget my friends Norm Ellison and Roy Downey, which told me one or another good story of the Flyers and did even send any nice Flyers memento. So if someone has info about the RCAF Flyers Europe and the 3 Wing Flyers in common, do not hesitate to write me your story. Any info, image, whatever concerns the team, is highly welcome. Thanks in advance, Armin Karcher
