Post 422 Squadron Photo
Does anybody know who posted the 422 Squadron photo to Baden Remembered? This poster hung either in the squadron orderly room or beside the operations desk, I can't remember which. Joe Prior was the keeper and administrator and stopped updating the photos after W/C Wright departed for Canada and S/L Murray became the O/C. S/L Murray handed over squadron command to S/L (promoted to W/C) Kaufman. Joe must have stopped doing any changes sometime in 59 because there were lots of new faces not shown on the poster from that period onward. Curious as to who rescued it for posterity.

Not quite sure which photo you mean, please post the link of the photo.

Most of the photos in our Scenes from Germany do have the name of the submitter above the photo.

If this is the picture you mean; well I have to admit, I went through all my saved files but could not find this picture so unfortunately I can not help you with your question.
I will post this to the Facebook sit and see, hopefully the submitter will identify him/her self

Thanks Sonja,

The photo you posted to the forum is the specific image of interest to me. There are two URL’s where the photo appears:

http://www.badenremembered.com/history/422squadron.htm

http://www.badenremembered.com/stories/sabretribute.htm

The first one is active, the second is active, but appears to be a lost link within "Baden Remembered". However, there are two errors on the poster with photo identifications: Cpl Tom "Shorty" Obrien and Cpl Ted Scherling are reversed. Tom is aware of this error, which can easily be corrected with a bit of digital trickery.

Since part of the security indoctrination at that time was: "no photos allowed on dispersal", there aren't many out and about. What I see of the area in the existing images depict everything exactly as I remember it.

Yours truly,
Jack M

My father is in this picture, and has the exact picture in his office, I can ask him if he knows.

I was with 422 Squadron from October 1958 until April 1962 as an E Tech (A). That's six months longer than I expected, thanks to the Berlin Wall going up in August 1961.

What started all of this for me was browsing the net last January and finding the Squadron nominal roll poster with my picture on it. I know this poster was completed in 1959 and not kept up to date, but that's all.

Those of you interested in 422 Squadron, thanks to contributions from a private photo collection, can view an enhanced slide show at:

http://jacktherat422.ca/potpourri.htm

I had a lot of fun doing this, but I still don't know how the Squadron nominal roll poster got to the Baden Remembered site and where it lives today.

From our Facebook site:

Robert Debling wote:
Still trying to find someone who remembers the "Christmas 62 Beer Can Tower" that was erected Xmas Eve by the barrack block that was close to Headquarters - the MPs (Meatheads)came and had a look then left I believe it lasted for a week before it was taken down. Jerry (forget his last name) soldered the cans together - was originally 120 cans high but when we raised it it buckled so ended up being 90 cans tall. Bob Debling Metal Tech 561 Workshops 62-65

Another web address for you to look at. Lots of fragmented 422 Sabre Sqn. information from the web.
